Scottsdale Body Shop Owner Police Investigation

Canines were brought in to trailer abandoned by Tamara Norris and Chad Norris, co-owners of Scottsdale Auto Collision Center near Priest Drive and Elliot Road in Tempe. The canines detected something, so detectives were granted a search warrant and found blood, used shell casings and the wallet containing the driver’s license of the victim. The victim, 45-year-old, Jason Johnson, also a co-owner of Scottsdale Auto Collision, was last seen at the business on September 14, 2012, and a missing person report was filed on September 17, 2012, with the Tempe Police. Soon after the report was filed, detectives started to investigate. During the span of the investigation, details were uncovered that there was an altercation between Jason and Chad. Once that was discovered, Jason and Tamara were contacted about Jason’s disappearance, but they refused to cooperate with the investigators. Detectives began surveillance of the business and saw Tamara Norris drive to Scottsdale Auto Collision Center where she had seven to nine large black trash bags put into her SUV. Tamara then returned home and a trailer belonging to Chad Norris was attached to the back of the SUV. Both Chad and Tamara then drove to 5 different locations before abandoning the trailer and driving off. The canine was then let loose in and alerted detectives. Shell casings, blood, and a wallet with Jason Johnson’s driver’s license were found. A door with what looked like a gunshot was also found, coincidentally, a door at Scottsdale Auto Collision Center with a design very similar was missing.

The Norris’s left the trailer then subsequently went to their house and unloaded the bags into their garage. They then went to Tamara’s mother’s house and unloaded two more bags. A police interview with the mother would later discover that her daughter said Chad “had done something very bad” but no more was to be said. Chad Norris has been arrested for second-degree murder, and Tamara Norris has been charged with felony hindering. Investigators determined that Johnson was killed and his body was hidden at an unknown location. They have yet to find his body.
